Project Finance Associate at BBVA New York
Overview
Own the structuring and execution of Project Finance deals in infrastructure and energy across the US and Canada at BBVA's New York office. This role anchors the origination pipeline, runs financial models for awarded transactions, and coordinates cross-functional teams in Madrid and New York. You will support senior bankers in underwriting, due diligence, and client presentations while building deep expertise in Project Finance. The role offers direct exposure to deal closing and portfolio management in a global bank with 160+ years of history.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build financial models for awarded transactions, including DCF analysis and sensitivity testing.
- 2Prepare Information Memos and Lender Presentations for lead role opportunities and coordinate bank meetings.
- 3Assist senior team members in underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis of infrastructure and energy projects.
- 4Maintain internal pipeline apps and credit tools, ensuring accurate tracking of deal progress.
- 5Manage the diligence process from technical and legal standpoints, monitoring the structuring process through closing.
- 6Support portfolio management by generating reports on in-process and closed transactions, including fee recognition.
- 7Coordinate with the Madrid team to align on deal execution and internal reporting.
- 8Participate in client meetings and due diligence sessions, contributing to strategic discussions.
Requirements8
- 14+ years of experience in corporate or investment banking with a focus on Project Finance, or in construction/energy firms related to project finance.
- 2Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3Formal credit training is a strong plus.
- 4Fluent in English; Spanish fluency preferred.
- 5Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- 6Understanding of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and DCF analysis.
- 7Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
- 8Strong communication and presentation skills.
