Overview
As a Project Finance Analyst in MUFG's Los Angeles office, you will own origination and execution of debt financing for power, energy, and infrastructure assets across North America and LatAm. You will build complex financial models in Excel, analyze project contracts, and negotiate covenants with clients. You will collaborate with our 80+ member project finance team, one of the most active globally, ranked #1 in the Americas since 2009. This role offers direct client exposure and a path to senior origination responsibilities.
What You'll Do8
- 1Model complex financial projections in Excel, including cash flows, debt financing, and tax structures for new opportunities in power, natural resources, and infrastructure.
- 2Analyze market studies, engineering reports, financial statements, and project contracts to support due diligence for financing transactions.
- 3Negotiate covenants in financing documentation, including financial ratio maintenance and reporting requirements.
- 4Prepare credit applications for internal credit teams, detailing financial conditions and projections for approval.
- 5Advise clients on commercial and financial structure to achieve non-recourse debt financing.
- 6Manage internal processes for compliance, including KYC, profitability analysis, committee approvals, and closing checklists.
- 7Support deals from origination through closing, liaising with the Portfolio Group on project finance market insights.
- 8Create marketing materials in PowerPoint and Word for power, natural resources, and infrastructure opportunities.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
- 21-2 years of related accounting or financial services experience, ideally with project finance internships.
- 3Experience with project finance transactions in power, natural resources, or transportation infrastructure sectors.
- 4Strong Excel modeling skills for financial projections and debt structuring.
- 5Knowledge of credit documentation and bank products like Loans, Interest Rate Swaps, Foreign Exchange, and Bonds.
- 6Ability to analyze and negotiate legal covenants in financing agreements.
- 7Excellent communication and presentation skills for client-facing materials.
