Project Engineer, Industrial Energy & Automation
Overview
You will own the technical delivery of complex energy efficiency projects across North America, from design review to commissioning and handover. The role centers on Variable Frequency Drives, MV/LV systems, and PLC/SCADA platforms for heavy industry. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, on-time delivery and measurable energy savings. This is a senior field position with direct impact on industrial decarbonization efforts.
What You'll Do7
- 1Lead technical design reviews for MV/LV electrical systems and VFD installations, ensuring compliance with project specs.
- 2Drive Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) for VFDs and control systems, resolving issues before client handover.
- 3Commission VFDs, PLCs, and SCADA systems on live industrial sites, optimizing performance and troubleshooting faults.
- 4Coordinate with project managers and field crews to align technical execution with safety and schedule requirements.
- 5Deliver client training and documentation, transferring operational knowledge for seamless handover.
- 6Support energy optimization studies by analyzing drive performance data and recommending improvements.
- 7Travel to client sites across the mid-west and North America, managing multiple concurrent project phases.
Requirements8
- 110+ years delivering heavy industrial engineering projects, with a focus on electrical and automation systems.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Mechatronics.
- 3Deep knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems and Variable Frequency Drives.
- 4Hands-on experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, or ABB automation platforms.
- 5Proven record commissioning and troubleshooting in live industrial environments.
- 6Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- 7Willingness to travel across North America, primarily the mid-west region.
- 8Experience in steel, mining, manufacturing, utilities, process industries, or other heavy industrial sectors is a plus.
