Overview

You will own day-to-day operations across multiple shifts in a high-volume manufacturing environment, directing workforce planning, production scheduling, and quality initiatives. You will lead a cross-functional team of department leaders and operators, partnering with Human Resources on staffing and development. This role reports to the Plant Director and works closely with Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams. You will drive Lean and Continuous Improvement projects to cut waste and boost throughput. What sets this role apart: full P&L accountability and the authority to redesign processes from the ground up.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Direct daily operations across 3 shifts, coordinating production schedules, staffing, and material flow to hit output targets.
  • 2Own workforce planning: forecast labor needs, adjust staffing levels, and approve overtime to meet demand swings.
  • 3Partner with Quality to implement defect reduction initiatives and maintain ISO 9001 standards.
  • 4Drive Lean transformation: lead Kaizen events, 5S audits, and value stream mapping to eliminate waste.
  • 5Coach shift supervisors to improve their leadership skills and hold them accountable for KPIs like OEE and FTT.
  • 6Collaborate with Procurement to align supplier deliveries with production needs and resolve shortages.
  • 7Track operational costs, labor utilization, and budgets, reporting variances to the Plant Manager weekly.
  • 8Enforce EHS policies, conducting regular safety audits and incident investigations to maintain a zero-incident record.
  • 9Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions, rolling them out to all shifts with clear training.
  • 10Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime through preventive maintenance scheduling and rapid troubleshooting.

Requirements10

  • 16+ years leading operations, manufacturing, or distribution teams, with 3+ years managing multiple shifts.
  • 2Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 3Proven record of managing 50+ person teams and developing front-line supervisors.
  • 4Hands-on experience with Lean Six Sigma tools: Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • 5Track record of using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to plan production and track inventory.
  • 6Strong financial acumen: budget ownership, cost reduction, and labor productivity metrics.
  • 7Skilled in conflict resolution and employee relations, with experience partnering with HR.
  • 8Ability to read and interpret P&L statements and operational dashboards.
  • 9Flexibility to work onsite in Newark, NJ, including occasional weekends and evenings.
  • 10Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
