Production Manager, Battery Manufacturing in Salt Lake City
Overview
Production Manager at Lion Energy will own the development and operation of a new U.S.-based battery line at scale. You will partner with engineering to set up and optimize the line, then assume full ownership once it transitions to operations—driving output, hiring and developing the team, and running daily production. You will establish processes, implement industry best practices, and assure safety, quality, and efficiency. This role shapes our manufacturing capability from the ground up and sits within a cross-functional team focused on throughput and reliability.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and lead daily production performance for output, yield, quality, and uptime
- 2Establish and track production metrics (OEE, throughput, scrap, downtime) and drive adherence to schedules
- 3Develop standardized work instructions and SOPs to support scalable operations
- 4Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement programs to reduce waste
- 5Own root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues
- 6Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- 7Oversee quality control processes for battery assembly and ensure regulatory compliance
- 8Maintain production documentation, traceability, and reporting systems
- 9Manage equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance programs
- 10Lead and develop a high-performing production team focused on safety and accountability
Requirements9
- 17+ years of manufacturing experience with increasing responsibility
- 2Proven experience leading production teams in a technical manufacturing environment
- 3Hands-on troubleshooting of equipment and production issues
- 4Strong understanding of production systems, quality control, and process optimization
- 5Experience implementing standardized manufacturing processes (SOPs, KPIs)
- 6Preferred: experience in battery manufacturing, electronics, or energy storage systems
- 7Preferred: experience launching or scaling a new production line
- 8Preferred: familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- 9Preferred: experience with traceability systems and regulated production environments
