Product Designer, Design Systems & AI-Native UX
Overview
Own the next generation of Assembled's design system, defining the visual and interaction foundations for our AI-native support platform. You'll build components, patterns, and governance that every product team uses to ship cohesive, accessible experiences at scale. Partner with the Design Systems Engineer to pioneer AI-assisted workflows, using coding agents to generate production-ready UI. This role combines visual craft with systems thinking, and turns product decisions into reusable patterns that elevate the entire platform.
What You'll Do5
- 1Lead the design system for Assembled, defining components, tokens, and patterns that work across desktop and mobile.
- 2Create documentation and a contribution model that helps designers and engineers adopt the system and extend it thoughtfully.
- 3Define reusable interaction patterns for AI-native products, covering how people direct, trust, and review AI agents.
- 4Pioneer AI-assisted design-system workflows using coding agents like Cursor or Claude to ship UI components faster.
- 5Extend the system by partnering with product teams on data-dense workflows, converting solutions into reusable patterns.
Requirements7
- 14+ years designing and shipping production B2B software, with meaningful ownership of a design system used by multiple teams.
- 2Exceptional visual craft with a high bar for quality, demonstrated in shipped work.
- 3Hands-on experience structuring Figma libraries, tokens, variables, and components for multi-team use.
- 4Fluency collaborating with frontend engineers on component APIs, responsive behavior, and accessibility, even without writing code.
- 5Skilled at enabling other designers through approachable systems and clear communication.
- 6Bias for shipping, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager for user feedback and testing.
- 7Excited about AI-native design workflows and how design systems can guide both people and agents.
