Procurement Sr Associate Job at Magic Spoon - Cost Optimization
Overview
You will own raw material sourcing and cost optimization projects at Magic Spoon, a high-growth CPG brand with 20,000+ retail stores. You will drive COGS savings across ingredients and packaging, managing supplier bids and market analysis. You will work directly with the Director of Operations and cross-functional teams to protect margin while ensuring quality and supply continuity. This role is unique because you will have direct ownership of cost models and supplier negotiations from day one.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run competitive bidding for key ingredient and packaging categories, evaluating suppliers on cost, quality, capacity, and reliability.
- 2Track commodity markets for dairy proteins, sweeteners, grains, oils, and packaging substrates to identify cost risks and savings.
- 3Build and maintain cost models that quantify savings opportunities and support procurement decisions.
- 4Drive annual and quarterly COGS optimization initiatives with the Director of Operations.
- 5Negotiate pricing and supply agreements with suppliers, ensuring terms align with Magic Spoon's quality standards.
- 6Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Finance, and Operations to align sourcing decisions with product specs and timelines.
- 7Manage supplier contracts, pricing benchmarks, and project trackers in organized documentation.
- 8Monitor industry trends and supply chain disruptions to flag risks and opportunities proactively.
Requirements9
- 13-5 years in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or related function in CPG, food & beverage, or consumer products.
- 2Proven experience running competitive bidding processes and negotiating supplier contracts.
- 3Strong analytical skills to build cost models and translate market data into actionable recommendations.
- 4Familiarity with raw materials and commodities like proteins, sweeteners, grains, and packaging.
- 5Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- 6Strong communication skills to present findings clearly to cross-functional partners.
- 7Comfortable engaging suppliers directly, including calls and site visits.
- 8Self-starter with a bias toward action, operating with limited oversight in a lean environment.
- 9Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with ERP or procurement platforms is a plus.
