Procurement Manager, Global Category Strategy & Sourcing
Overview
You will own a 3-5 year Global Category Strategy for a growing manufacturing company in Chicago, aligning with business and regional needs. You will lead global sourcing initiatives including RFX, negotiations, and contract management, driving value through total cost of ownership and risk mitigation. Collaborate with global and regional leaders across procurement, finance, and supply chain, and coach regional category managers for consistent execution. This role stands out for its focus on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and market intelligence to shape investment decisions.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and deliver a 3-5 year Global Category Strategy aligned to business and regional needs.
- 2Lead global sourcing initiatives including RFX processes, negotiations, and contract management.
- 3Drive value through total cost of ownership, risk mitigation, and supplier consolidation.
- 4Establish and lead effective Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks.
- 5Provide market intelligence and insights to inform sourcing and investment decisions.
- 6Partner with global and regional leaders across procurement, finance, supply chain, and the business.
- 7Coach and support regional category managers to ensure consistent execution of global strategies.
- 8Define and track category KPIs covering savings, service, innovation, and performance.
Requirements7
- 14+ years in global or regional category management, with a strong track record of developing and executing procurement strategies.
- 2Commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder, negotiation, and leadership skills, comfortable operating in a global, matrix organization.
- 3Tertiary qualification in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- 4Professional procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS) or postgraduate qualification (desirable).
- 5Deep experience in strategic sourcing, SRM, and contract management.
- 6Strong analytical, influencing, and communication skills.
- 7A strategic mindset with the ability to translate market insight into tangible business outcomes.
Salary Insight
$110 - $140k per year
