Process Engineer, Food Manufacturing & Lean
Overview
Own process engineering for a food manufacturing plant south of Portland, covering mixing, cooking, and high-speed packaging. You will drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives to support aggressive growth targets. Collaborate with project engineering to develop facility layout for expansion. This role combines hands-on process optimization with strategic planning in a dynamic production environment.
What You'll Do8
- 1Drive lean and continuous improvement across mixing, cooking, and high-speed packaging lines to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
- 2Develop and implement 5S, Six-Sigma, and TPS methodologies to optimize production flows and floor layouts.
- 3Design production flow and process flow diagrams using AutoCAD to support plant expansion projects.
- 4Collaborate with project engineering to define layout for new equipment and production areas.
- 5Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- 6Lead cross-functional teams to standardize processes and sustain improvements.
- 7Evaluate and implement automation and technology upgrades for high-speed packaging lines.
- 8Ensure processes meet food safety and quality standards while maximizing throughput.
Requirements7
- 1Engineering degree required, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
- 25+ years experience in process engineering within food manufacturing or high-speed packaging.
- 3Proven track record optimizing production processes and implementing lean tools.
- 4Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software for floor layout and flow diagrams.
- 5Knowledge of food production processes including mixing, cooking, and high-speed packaging or bottling.
- 6Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
- 7Excellent project management and communication skills.
