Principal SDET, Disney Media Player
Overview
Own the quality strategy for the Disney Media Player across web, mobile, connected TV, and gaming consoles. You will lead automation architecture and test practices for a platform serving millions of global viewers. As a technical authority, you will partner with engineering teams to embed quality gates in CI/CD and drive innovation in streaming validation. This role offers the chance to influence enterprise-wide standards and mentor a team of SDETs in a media-centric environment.
What You'll Do8
- 1Define and drive the automation roadmap for the Disney Media Player, covering web, mobile, connected TV, and gaming consoles.
- 2Architect scalable test frameworks for JS/Node, Python, and modern OO languages that support cross-device validation.
- 3Partner with client and media platform teams to implement shift-left testing and enforce quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.
- 4Establish enterprise-wide standards for test automation, observability, and defect prevention.
- 5Mentor SDETs through technical deep-dives and code reviews on media player internals and streaming playback.
- 6Own release criteria and test metrics for high-impact projects, ensuring reliability across DRM and ABR scenarios.
- 7Lead root cause analysis for high-severity incidents and drive systemic improvements.
- 8Champion adoption of AI/ML in testing and advanced observability to stay ahead of industry trends.
Requirements9
- 110+ years in quality engineering or automation, with leadership in complex environments.
- 2Proven experience designing test strategies for client-side apps with hardware variability and platform fragmentation.
- 3Advanced proficiency in JS/Node, Python, or modern OO languages; media player or pipeline experience a plus.
- 4Expertise architecting and scaling automation for distributed, cloud-native systems.
- 5Experience building automation across smart TVs, set-top boxes, mobile, web, and gaming consoles.
- 6Familiarity with streaming concepts like playback quality, ABR, DRM, and codec behavior.
- 7Track record of influencing enterprise strategy and leading transformation initiatives.
- 8Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.
- 9Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Salary Insight
$163 - $219k per year
