Overview
You will originate and execute energy infrastructure investments powering data centers and large loads at Generate Capital, a pioneer in sustainable infrastructure. Own the full deal lifecycle from sourcing to closing, including underwriting BESS, renewables, and behind-the-meter baseload solutions. Collaborate with investment, asset management, and legal teams to scale an in-house data center energy platform. Build deep relationships with data center customers as long-term offtakers and drive repeatable, investable solutions. This role demands a track record of closing complex deals and a commitment to market-leading returns with integrity.
What You'll Do9
- 1Originate energy infrastructure investment opportunities focused on data centers and large loads, including behind-the-meter baseload and BESS paired with renewables.
- 2Own underwriting and execution for large load customer energy assets, from initial diligence through investment committee and closing.
- 3Develop a differentiated market perspective by conducting market research to identify best-in-class energy developers and large load customers across priority geographies.
- 4Scale Generate's in-house data center energy platform, translating customer needs into repeatable, investable infrastructure solutions.
- 5Build comprehensive coverage of large-load and data center customers, analyzing their operational, commercial, and credit profiles to inform credit underwriting and investment strategy.
- 6Structure and negotiate various investment types including project equity, mezzanine debt, corporate equity, senior debt, and tax equity.
- 7Lead cross-functional collaboration with investment, asset management, legal, and finance teams to drive deals to closure.
- 8Mentor and oversee junior team members, reviewing financial models and investment documentation.
- 9Represent Generate Capital in negotiations and build trusted relationships with partners, customers, and lenders.
Requirements10
- 19-10+ years of investment experience in energy, renewables, or digital infrastructure with reputable corporates, developers, private equity, or infrastructure funds.
- 2Deep understanding of power markets, including ISOs, renewable and conventional generation, and behind-the-meter technologies.
- 3Proven track record of originating and executing successful energy investments with attractive risk-adjusted returns.
- 4Strong executive presence with ability to build trusted relationships with partners, customers, lenders, and investors.
- 5Experience underwriting and structuring multiple investment types, including project equity, mezzanine debt, corporate equity, senior debt, and tax equity.
- 6Comfort with corporate strategy frameworks and data-driven decision-making.
- 7Ability to work in a multifunctional organization and move nimbly between strategy and execution.
- 8Excellent communication skills, adept at navigating difficult situations to reach win-win outcomes.
- 9Demonstrated ability to mentor and oversee junior team members, including financial model review.
