Preform Technician (1st Shift) - Magna Powertrain
Overview
Lead manufacturing of quality preform components at Magna Powertrain Detroit. Manage consumable tooling inventory and ensure daily production schedules. Drive cost savings and implement A3 projects. This role differs by focusing on autonomous problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do11
- 1Build and operate production equipment safely and efficiently
- 2Manage consumable tooling inventory including rolls and bearings
- 3Monitor tooling life and adjust machining processes
- 4Optimize machine parameters to extend tool longevity
- 5Interact with suppliers to secure materials and technical guidance
- 6Drive A3 projects and cost-saving initiatives
- 7Provide operator training on tooling manufacturing and repair
- 8Troubleshoot process inefficiencies and support preventive maintenance
- 9Maintain 5S and TPM standards for workstation cleanliness
- 10Inspect parts visually and with measurement tools for quality
- 11Escalate issues to supervisors and stop lines for safety concerns
Requirements11
- 1High school diploma or GED with college diploma in related field preferred
- 2Two to three years hands-on automotive industry experience
- 3Knowledge of Six Sigma or DFMA an asset
- 4Proficiency with SolidWorks and APQP/FMEA
- 5Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- 6Strong communication and organizational skills
- 7Experience with AS400 and barcode labeling systems
- 8Familiarity with ISO14001 and IATF standards
- 9Experience with Microsoft Office and MS Project
- 10Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage concurrent projects
- 11Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, and climbing
