Power BI Developer, Cognos Migration & Reporting
Overview
As a Power BI Developer, you own the design and delivery of interactive dashboards and reports that drive decision-making across the business. You will partner with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into scalable solutions. You'll also drive the migration of IBM Cognos reports into Power BI, enhancing data accessibility. This contract role in Iselin, NJ puts you at the center of a data modernization initiative, working with modern BI tools and legacy systems.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI that turn raw data into actionable insights.
- 2Analyze data from multiple sources, using Power Query and DAX to shape and model datasets.
- 3Migrate existing Cognos reports into Power BI, ensuring business logic and metrics carry over.
- 4Partner with business users to capture reporting requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- 5Support the enhancement of Cognos reports while transitioning to modern Power BI solutions.
- 6Develop data extraction, transformation, and load processes using SQL and Power Query.
- 7Validate report accuracy against source systems, testing outputs for correctness.
Requirements6
- 13+ years developing dashboards in Power BI, including DAX and Power Query.
- 22+ years working with IBM Cognos for reporting or data analysis.
- 33+ years extracting and transforming data from relational databases using SQL.
- 4Hands-on experience migrating Cognos reports to Power BI.
- 5Ability to gather business requirements and deliver user-focused reports.
- 6Experience with data modeling in Power BI and connecting to multiple data sources.
