Pouching Machine Operator (Vertical) - Chicago
Overview
Operate vertical pouching machines, including Hayssen equipment, at a high-volume production site in Chicago. You will own machine startup, monitoring, and quality control across multiple lines, ensuring minimal downtime and waste. Work alongside a close-knit production team and report directly to shift leads. This role demands precision, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to GMP and safety standards. You will be the key to keeping production flowing smoothly, every shift.
What You'll Do9
- 1Start up Hayssen machines and perform pre-operation checks to ensure proper function.
- 2Monitor multiple high-speed machines, adjusting Mettler Toledo scales to maintain accurate weights.
- 3Inspect output for defects, removing non-conforming product and documenting issues.
- 4Read job orders and gather required materials, films, and packaging components.
- 5Clear jams and perform minor mechanical adjustments to minimize unplanned stops.
- 6Log production data, downtime, and quality checks into shift reports.
- 7Coordinate with team members to ensure continuous supply of materials to lines.
- 8Follow GMP and sanitation procedures, cleaning machines and work areas between runs.
- 9Identify safety hazards and report them immediately, adhering to all safety protocols.
Requirements9
- 12-4 years operating Hayssen vertical pouching machines or similar high-speed packaging equipment.
- 2Hands-on experience calibrating and adjusting Mettler Toledo scale systems.
- 3Knowledge of GMP and food safety standards, with experience in sanitation and housekeeping.
- 4Ability to read and interpret job orders and production schedules.
- 5Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for quick machine adjustments.
- 6Proficiency with measurement tools and quality inspection techniques.
- 7Physical stamina to stand and walk for entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in tight spaces.
- 8Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
- 9High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machine operation preferred.
