Overview
You will own the cleanliness and sanitation of the front of the house at the University of Portland, ensuring tables, floors, and serving areas stay spotless during peak meal service. You will work with a team of 10+ dining associates to keep the flow of service smooth and safe. This role is hands-on and fast-moving, ideal for someone who takes pride in a well-kept dining environment. What You'll Do9
- 1Bus and clean tables, and sweep floors during peak service times to keep the dining area ready for the next guest.
- 2Transport dishes and utensils from the front of the house to the kitchen using trays, bus tubs, or carts while following safety procedures.
- 3Wash dishes, glasses, and pots by hand or using the dish machine, and clean cooking stations to maintain sanitation standards.
- 4Scrape and rinse food from dishes, then load racks or conveyor for the dishwashing machine based on assigned equipment.
- 5Keep display equipment clean and free of debris, complying with all safety and sanitation standards during meal service.
- 6Help receive heavy deliveries from the dock and transport them to storage areas, using proper lifting techniques.
- 7Maintain proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, following HACCP standards.
- 8Use medium weight cut gloves when handling knives or cleaning slicers, and oven mitts or fryer gloves for hot pans.
- 9Wear slip-resistant shoes and follow all company policies for a safe work environment.
Requirements6
- 12+ years of previous porter experience is preferred.
- 2Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during full-time schedule.
- 3Capability to lift and carry heavy items, including deliveries, up to 50 pounds.
- 4Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and following safety protocols.
- 5Must be available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- 6Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the US.
