Policy Advisor (Administrator IV) - Maryland
Overview
The GMI Policy Advisor leads high‑level policy and administrative support for the Governor’s Office of Performance Improvement. This role connects the Director with senior leaders and external stakeholders to achieve operational efficiencies and cost savings. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
What You'll Do9
- 1Serve as primary liaison for the Director handling 20% of duties
- 2Manage scheduling and coordinate meetings across agencies and executive leadership
- 3Research state initiatives and monitor the Board of Public Works agenda for GMI relevance
- 4Draft decision memos briefing materials and slide decks for the Governor and General Assembly
- 5Establish systems for tracking policies invoices and agency documents
- 6Plan stakeholder meetings and build relationships with internal and external partners
- 7Perform special projects as assigned by the Director
- 8Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information
- 9Utilize Google and Microsoft Office to produce professional deliverables
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- 2Minimum two years experience as a Policy Analyst or Research Assistant in government
- 3At least one year supporting senior managers
- 4Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- 5Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- 6Experience creating memos and presentation decks
- 7Attention to detail and proficiency in data interpretation
- 8Flexibility to work beyond regular business hours
- 9Certification such as CPC Card or BCBA preferred
- 10Experience with AWS Kubernetes Spark Airflow
