Overview

You will provide medical care for orthopedic patients at OrthoCarolina Monroe, owning comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, and surgical assistance. You will work directly with Orthopedic Surgeons, staff, and a team of Physician Assistants across 43 care locations. This role offers independence in clinical decision-making and OR support, with a focus on continuity of care and patient outcomes.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical exams, compiling medical data and health histories.
  • 2Order and interpret diagnostic tests including X-ray, EKG, and laboratory work in collaboration with Orthopedic Surgeons.
  • 3Deliver therapeutic procedures: injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • 4Apply and remove orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • 5Assist in orthopedic surgeries, serving as first assist.
  • 6Develop patient management plans, record progress, and apply ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing.
  • 7Dictate records: discharge summaries, H&Ps, operative notes, consultations, and office visits.
  • 8Round on hospital inpatients and handle ER and floor consultations.
  • 9Use EMR systems to document care and access patient data.

Requirements5

  • 1Graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • 2Active North Carolina PA license.
  • 3Certification by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
  • 4Prior orthopedics experience preferred but not required.
  • 5Prior PA experience preferred but not required.
