Overview
As a Physician Assistant on Dr. Swick's orthopedic team, you will own patient management from first consult through post-op, supporting 500+ procedures annually. You will work in the clinic, hospital, and operating room, first-assisting in joint replacements and sports medicine cases. You will collaborate with a dedicated surgical team and drive outcomes for a high-volume practice. What You'll Do9
- 1Assist the supervising physician in the office, hospital, and first-assist in surgeries, including joint replacements and sports medicine procedures.
- 2Obtain detailed medical histories, perform comprehensive physical exams, and deliver direct patient care for a specified population.
- 3Write routine admission, pre-operative, and post-operative orders, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- 4Make daily rounds and handle post-operative follow-ups for hospitalized patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- 5Perform hospital and emergency department consultations, evaluating patients and initiating treatment under physician guidance.
- 6First-assist in surgery, applying and removing casts, splints, and traction as required.
- 7Write discharge orders and dictate discharge summaries for physician review and countersignature.
- 8Notify the supervising or on-call physician of any unusual events requiring direct consultation, ensuring patient safety.
- 9Supervise and coordinate patient care and support staff activities, while providing health education to patients and families.
Requirements7
- 1Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- 2Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- 3Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Florida.
- 42-4 years of clinical experience preferred.
- 5Experience in lower leg, joint replacement, or sports medicine is a plus.
- 6Ability to first-assist in surgery and manage inpatient and outpatient care.
- 7Strong communication and documentation skills, including writing orders and discharge summaries.
