What You'll Do8

  • 1Process medication orders with accurate data entry, fill, sort, and deliver medications to patient units.
  • 2Prepare IV admixtures and sterile compounds, following aseptic technique and safety protocols.
  • 3Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, communicating with the purchaser for low-stock items, and performing monthly unit inspections for expired medications.
  • 4Maintain controlled substance records, track receipts and disposition, and ensure pyxis medication levels are accurate.
  • 5Coordinate purchasing of drugs and supplies, verify receipts, process invoices, and confirm payment through the system.
  • 6Train and orient newly hired pharmacy technicians on hospital policies and procedures.
  • 7Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, anticipating and responding to customer needs.
  • 8Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills, prioritizing tasks to meet patient needs.

Requirements9

  • 1High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in science-related field and 1 year of hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • 22 years of hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • 3Accurate data entry skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • 4Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • 5Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • 6Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • 7Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and Registered Pharmacy Technician in the District of Columbia required.
  • 8Ability to perform arithmetic calculations including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages.
  • 9Self-motivated, able to work independently, and proactive in meeting patient needs.
