What You'll Do8

  • 1Manage a full caseload of personal injury cases from filing through resolution or trial, owning case strategy and deadlines.
  • 2Take and defend depositions, handle discovery and motions, and work with medical experts and other witnesses.
  • 3Lead mediations and settlement negotiations, using strong judgment to evaluate liability, damages, and case value.
  • 4Prepare cases for trial and serve as first-chair trial counsel, delivering compelling arguments to juries.
  • 5Develop litigation strategy for each case, adapting to new evidence and procedural developments.
  • 6Collaborate with paralegals and support staff, using AI tools and case management software to track and advance cases.
  • 7Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court, keeping all parties informed.
  • 8Achieve 90-day milestones: review active dockets, meet key deadlines, and prepare one case for trial or mediation.

Requirements7

  • 15+ years of personal injury litigation experience, with at least 5 first-chair jury trials to verdict.
  • 2Active bar license in Virginia or Maryland, and willingness to become licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. within one year.
  • 3Proven ability to independently manage cases from filing through trial, including depositions, discovery, and motions.
  • 4Strong courtroom presence and jury trial skills, with experience in mediation and settlement negotiations.
  • 5Excellent judgment in evaluating liability, damages, and case value, and strategic decision-making.
  • 6Superior communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail in a high-volume practice.
  • 7Plaintiff or defense side experience acceptable, but must have actual trial experience in personal injury.
