Payroll Coordinator, Educational Institution & Onsite US
Overview
Own payroll processing for a multi-employee environment in a fast-paced educational setting. You will ensure semi-monthly payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery while collaborating with HR and Finance. You will lead payroll team activities, support audits, and contribute to system improvements. This role emphasizes confidentiality and process rigor in a fully on-site Columbia, MD environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and manage semi-monthly payroll processing for all employees ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- 2Review and approve payroll entries to meet internal standards and regulatory requirements
- 3Serve as primary contact for payroll questions, delivering training and guidance to the team
- 4Collaborate with HR and Finance to research, resolve, and prevent payroll discrepancies
- 5Generate, analyze, and distribute payroll reports for leadership and stakeholders
- 6Oversee updates and improvements to payroll systems including testing and implementation
- 7Support payroll accounting with deductions and related transactions
- 8Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reconciliations
- 9Contribute to year-end reporting activities and required payroll documents
- 10Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information
Requirements5
- 13–5 years of payroll experience including at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity
- 2Experience with payroll processing and reconciliation for a multi-employee environment
- 3Hands-on experience with payroll software and any ERP or payroll system
- 4Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis
- 5Strong understanding of payroll accounting including deductions and financial entries
