Overview
This is a remote, hourly contract role where you'll help shape next-generation AI for healthcare payment operations. As a Payment-posting & Reconciliation Manager, you'll bring your deep knowledge of ERA/835 processing, EOB interpretation, and lockbox reconciliation to evaluate and improve AI tools that automate cash posting. Your real-world expertise will directly inform AI training data, helping reduce payment errors and accelerate revenue cycles. The position pays $85 per hour and is fully remote.
What You'll Do7
- 1Lead end-to-end cash posting and reconciliation, covering electronic remittance advice (ERA/835), manual EOB entry, and lockbox balancing.
- 2Review AI-generated payment outputs, remittance matching suggestions, and reconciliation reports to ensure they meet accuracy standards.
- 3Run both electronic and manual posting processes across various payers and payment types, keeping workflows efficient and compliant.
- 4Match posted payments against bank deposits, lockbox data, and payer remittances to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- 5Investigate and correct misapplied payments, posting errors, and unapplied cash, and track KPIs like posting accuracy and days-to-post.
- 6Partner with billing, A/R, and finance teams to clear payment discrepancies, while ensuring HIPAA and internal controls are followed.
- 7Provide structured annotations and feedback on AI output to support continuous improvement of the AI models.
Requirements7
- 1At least 5 years of hands-on experience in cash posting, payment reconciliation, or revenue cycle operations, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- 2Solid understanding of ERA/835 processing, EOB interpretation, and lockbox reconciliation workflows.
- 3Familiarity with payer payment rules and remittance adjustment reason codes.
- 4Proven ability to manage high-volume payment posting environments with multiple payers.
- 5Hands-on proficiency with billing systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
- 6Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- 7Certifications like CRCR, CPC, or CHFP are a plus, as is experience with automated ERA posting, RPA tools, or AI evaluation.
