Payloads Systems Design Engineer
Overview
You will own the structural and interior payload system design for the Washington Interiors Team, supporting production and certification for major aircraft integrators. You will work with CATIA, ENOVIA, and PDM tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver compliant, manufacturable designs. This role stands out for its direct engagement with regulators and its focus on FAA Title 14 Part 25 compliance. You will also drive design-for-manufacturing initiatives that impact real aircraft programs.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and integrate structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- 2Design system and component definitions using CATIA and ENOVIA to provide product definition to engineering, production, and suppliers.
- 3Validate and verify system performance through testing against requirements and specifications.
- 4Coordinate with suppliers to optimize designs and achieve program goals, supporting development, test, and production activities.
- 5Investigate emerging technologies to shape future product design concepts.
- 6Document payload system designs through the release process in PDM.
- 7Support production with engineering expertise to resolve issues and maintain schedule.
- 8Collaborate with cross-functional teams including structural, electrical, and manufacturing engineering.
Requirements8
- 15+ years experience in aerospace payload systems design, including cabin and cargo interiors.
- 2Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences engineering.
- 3Proficiency with CATIA and ENOVIA for 3-D design and product data management.
- 4Experience with PDM release processes and configuration management.
- 5Working knowledge of FAA Title 14 Part 25 or EASA certification requirements.
- 6Experience supporting production systems and resolving design-to-manufacturing issues.
- 72+ years in program or project management, including schedule, budget, and risk oversight.
- 8Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking, with clear communication across audiences.
