You will own the daily operations of the meat department at a BJ's Wholesale Club, handling fresh and processed meats for a high-volume membership warehouse. You'll receive, rotate, wrap, and stock products while assisting members with selections. What You'll Do9
- 1Receive and inspect deliveries of meat, poultry, and seafood, rejecting any product that fails BJ's quality standards.
- 2Weigh, wrap, and label cuts of meat and seafood, including operating automatic wrapping machines to meet daily production goals.
- 3Rotate stock by expiration date across meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
- 4Assist members with product recommendations, answering questions about cuts, cooking methods, and storage.
- 5Maintain a clean and sanitized department, including coolers, freezers, and display cases, following all safety guidelines.
- 6Support the meat cutter by packaging freshly cut meats and grinding hamburger as needed.
- 7Execute daily merchandising plans, ensuring cases are fully stocked and signage is accurate and visible.
- 8Dispose of damaged or expired products according to established protocols, documenting waste as required.
- 9Cross-train in other departments, providing backup coverage when needed to maintain club standards.
Requirements8
- 11+ year experience working with fresh and processed meats in a retail or food service setting.
- 2Hands-on knowledge of automatic and hand wrapping machines, with the ability to operate them safely and efficiently.
- 3Prior experience in a meat or deli department, demonstrating familiarity with rotation and sanitation practices.
- 4Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds regularly and 50+ pounds with assistance.
- 5At least 18 years of age to comply with company policy and equipment operation.
- 6Comfort standing and walking on hard surfaces for extended shifts, with bending, reaching, and stooping as needed.
- 7Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory counts.
- 8Commitment to following BJ's GOLD member standards, including greeting, anticipating, and appreciating every member.
