Overview

Work 1:1 with a pre-school child in a school environment. You will shadow the child in the classroom, attend to their needs, and accompany them to therapy sessions including physical, occupational, and speech. You will also respond to medical emergencies as needed. This role requires a GED or high school diploma, 3-6 months of paraprofessional experience, and certification in Epi-Pen use and Mandated Reporter training. You will be part of a supportive team and make a direct impact on a child's development.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Shadow the child in the classroom and attend to their needs throughout the day.
  • 2Accompany the child to therapy sessions including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
  • 3Respond to medical emergencies that may arise, using Epi-Pen and other protocols.
  • 4Perform paraprofessional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • 5Adapt to the child's daily routine and changing needs.
  • 6Document observations and report progress to the supervising teacher or therapist.
  • 7Support the child's social and academic participation in the classroom.

Requirements9

  • 1GED or high school diploma.
  • 23-6 months experience as a paraprofessional.
  • 3Trained in use of Epi-Pen.
  • 4Must be Mandated Reporter certified.
  • 5Must be fingerprinted by the Board of Education; fees paid by candidate.
  • 6Pass a recent Quantiferon TB test (within the last year).
  • 7Pass a pre-employment physical exam (within the last year).
  • 8Provide titer tests and lab paperwork (within the last year) for MMR, TDAP, and Varicella.
  • 9Willing and able to work with medically fragile children in a school environment.
