Overview

Provide direct service to individual students under supervision while participating in daily instruction and activities. Support diverse learners with disabilities or language needs. Foster communication with parents and staff. Work with small groups and assist with personal care tasks. Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans. Foster open communications with families. Perform related duties as requested. Protect both student and paraprofessional. Implement agreed-upon activities.

  • 2Toileting diapering lifting transfers maintaining personal hygiene
  • 3Assist school nurse with tube feedings
  • 4Scribe note taking using language systems ASL SEE 2 Picture Exchange System communication boards Braille
  • 5Apply Behavioral Analysis behavior management redirection de-escalation physical restraint
  • 6Be specific gender if required for toileting or student history
  • 7Assign to any district school including examination schools
  • 8Support advanced coursework with paraprofessional assistance
  • 9Collaborate with teacher to implement activities as shown in daily lesson plans
  • 10Foster open communications with parents and staff
  • 11Perform other related duties as requested especially when student absent

Requirements9

  • 1High School Diploma or GED
  • 2Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of college coursework or associate degree
  • 3Passing score on ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants
  • 4Experience with mild to moderate disabilities listed above
  • 5Demonstrated experience working with parents/guardians administrators teachers and students
  • 6Trained in ABA
  • 7Current U.S. work authorization
  • 8Fluency in Spanish Creole Haitian Creole Chinese Vietnamese Portuguese Somali
  • 9BPS values linguistic diversity and cultural inclusion
