What You'll Do8

  • 1Direct Paramedic field operations, including response protocols, equipment readiness, and EMS liaison during incidents.
  • 2Build and maintain clinical quality improvement programs, auditing Paramedic performance and patient care reports.
  • 3Lead training and continuing education for Paramedic staff, aligning with San Mateo County EMS accreditation standards.
  • 4Coordinate with CAL FIRE leadership to integrate EMS strategies into fire and rescue operations.
  • 5Own the medical inventory and narcotics accountability for all Paramedic units, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
  • 6Drive monthly drills and scenario-based training to maintain Paramedic skills and SCBA proficiency.
  • 7Represent the unit in multi-agency EMS planning and drills, building partnerships with hospitals and dispatch centers.
  • 8Investigate EMS-related incidents, providing after-action reports and corrective action plans.

Requirements8

  • 13+ years of full-time Paramedic experience in a high-volume emergency response system.
  • 2Current Paramedic license issued by the State of California.
  • 3Accreditation as an EMT-Paramedic by San Mateo County EMS.
  • 45+ years of supervisory or command experience in fire or EMS operations, including incident command.
  • 5Valid California Driver License with appropriate class for emergency vehicles.
  • 6Pass annual SCBA fit test and medical clearance, including exercise treadmill test.
  • 7Maintain arduous fitness standard per CAL FIRE policy.
  • 8Experience with EMS quality improvement programs and data analysis.
