Paralegal (Intellectual Property) - Law Firm
Overview
You will manage personal injury cases from intake to settlement or trial, coordinating client communication, medical records, and litigation support. You will work within a Pittsburgh law firm's Personal Injury group, supporting attorneys and ensuring case progress. This role suits a paralegal with 2+ years of PI experience who thrives on detail and client interaction.
What You'll Do16
- 1Maintain proactive communication with clients, providing updates and gathering information as the case progresses.
- 2Prepare clients for statements, depositions, medical appointments, and other key events.
- 3Summarize or review medical information to support case development and demand preparation.
- 4Monitor client treatment status and inform the legal team of important changes or upcoming appointments.
- 5Coordinate with providers, facilities, and billing departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
- 6Identify, track, and manage liens, insurance coverage, medical payments, and related financial aspects of the case.
- 7Ensure all case documents and communications are organized, updated, and stored appropriately.
- 8Assist in assembling information for settlement packages, including medical summaries, wage information, and supporting evidence.
- 9Prepare and organize materials for attorney review prior to negotiation.
- 10Draft routine legal documents such as discovery responses, correspondence, and case outlines.
- 11Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, exhibit organization, hearing preparation, and trial-related tasks.
- 12Coordinate scheduling for depositions, mediations, IMEs, and other litigation events.
- 13Support document production, file organization, and compliance with deadlines throughout the litigation process.
- 14Maintain accurate, up-to-date case information within the firm's case management system.
- 15Track deadlines, statutes of limitations, and court or agency requirements.
- 16Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with firm procedures and expected timelines.
Requirements9
- 12+ years of Personal Injury Paralegal experience
- 2Strong understanding of personal injury processes from intake through settlement or litigation
- 3Professional verbal and written communication skills
- 4Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- 5Proficient MSOffice skills and case management systems/software
- 6Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- 7Litigation experience is a plus
- 8Understanding of medical records and terminology is a plus
- 9Paralegal certification preferred but not required
