Overview
Lead daily operations of the Panel Shop at Champion Integrated Building Solutions, directing assembly of electrical control panels, switchgear, motor control centers, and power distribution systems for custom industrial projects. Manage a team of 10-15 technicians and coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain to hit production milestones. This role combines hands-on technical oversight with strategic planning, emphasizing safety and quality in a high-stakes environment. You'll drive improvements in assembly methods and workflow, ensuring projects ship on time and within budget.
What You'll Do10
- 1Direct daily Panel Shop operations, including production scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource allocation for electrical control panels and switchgear.
- 2Supervise and mentor shop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- 3Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management to align production with project timelines and specifications.
- 4Review project schedules and production priorities to plan labor, materials, and equipment use, adapting to shifts in demand.
- 5Monitor production progress and resolve scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or operational bottlenecks.
- 6Ensure panel assemblies meet engineering drawings, customer specs, and NEC and NFPA 70E standards.
- 7Provide constructability feedback to Engineering to improve panel layouts and assembly methods.
- 8Partner with Supply Chain to guarantee material availability, and oversee shop quality inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- 9Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies, and track productivity metrics to identify improvement areas.
- 10Maintain production records, work orders, and inventory usage, and assist in hiring and performance management for shop staff.
Requirements10
- 15+ years in industrial electrical assembly, control panel fabrication, or switchgear integration.
- 23+ years in a supervisory or leadership role within a production environment.
- 3Associate's or Bachelor's in Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
- 4Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA regulations.
- 5Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- 6Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- 7Experience with ERP systems for work orders and inventory management.
- 8Familiarity with AutoCAD drawings and Bluebeam Revu.
- 9Preferred: OSHA 30-Hour certification and NFPA 70E training.
- 10Preferred: Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma certification.
