You will own electrical designs for low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and control panels at a leading West Coast panel builder. UL 891 and NEC compliance drive every component you size and schematic you draw. Working with engineering and manufacturing teams, you will convert customer specs into practical power distribution and control solutions. You will also configure PLCs, VFDs, and protective relays to ensure safe, reliable performance. This role blends design, testing, and field support in a family-oriented culture that values hands-on collaboration.
What You'll Do10
- 1Oversee electrical designs for low- and medium-voltage switchgear and control panels, ensuring compliance with UL 891 and NEC.
- 2Review customer drawings and specs to develop designs that meet technical and functional requirements.
- 3Create one-line and three-line power distribution drawings and detailed schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- 4Size electrical components such as transformers, current transformers, fuses, cabling, bussing, and circuit breakers per UL 891 and NEC.
- 5Develop sequences of operation for power distribution and control equipment to ensure safe performance.
- 6Create testing plans and procedures to verify compliance and functionality of power distribution systems.
- 7Support manufacturing teams by providing clear design documentation and guidance during production.
- 8Assist testing and quality teams to ensure equipment aligns with design intent and industry standards.
- 9Configure and program PLCs, VFDs, protective relays, transfer switches, and circuit breakers.
- 10Collaborate with engineering and operations to deliver cost-effective, reliable solutions for custom switchgear and panel systems.
Requirements10
- 12+ years of relevant electrical design experience in power distribution or control panels.
- 21+ year of hands-on control panel exposure, including design, layout, or integration.
- 3Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for one-line and three-line diagrams and schematics.
- 4Experience using SolidWorks Electrical for panel layout and electrical design.
- 5Working knowledge of UL 891 and UL 508A standards for switchboards and industrial control panels.
- 6Working knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards relevant to power distribution.
- 7Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E for electrical safety and code compliance.
- 8Ability to size and select electrical components such as transformers, fuses, cabling, bussing, and circuit breakers.
- 9Experience configuring and programming PLCs, VFDs, protective relays, and transfer switches.
