Overview
You will own overnight safety and security for a 172-room luxury hotel and 100 residences in Houston's Buffalo Bayou Park. Reporting to the Director of Security, you'll work with a tight-knit team of officers to protect guests, staff, and property. This role stands out because you'll operate a private heliport and one-acre pool deck, with 34 breathtaking suites as your patrol beat. You'll respond to incidents, write reports, and ensure a secure environment from dusk to dawn, all within a landmark 36-story skyscraper that opened in February 2024.
What You'll Do10
- 1Patrol all floors, public areas, and grounds, including the one-acre pool deck and private heliport, to deter and detect security threats.
- 2Monitor CCTV cameras and access control systems, watching for suspicious activity and responding to alarms in real time.
- 3Respond to guest and employee incidents, from medical emergencies to disturbances, and de-escalate situations with calm authority.
- 4Write detailed incident reports for every security event, documenting times, actions taken, and witness statements.
- 5Enforce hotel safety policies and fire procedures, conducting regular checks of fire exits, extinguishers, and emergency equipment.
- 6Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when needed, providing clear and concise information.
- 7Assist overnight guests with access issues, locked rooms, or safety concerns, maintaining the hotel's high service standard.
- 8Operate the hotel's key control system, issuing and tracking keys to staff and contractors, ensuring accountability.
- 9Conduct security briefings at shift change, sharing critical information with the incoming officer and documenting status.
- 10Ensure the lobby and entrance areas remain secure after hours, screening late-night visitors and verifying credentials.
Requirements10
- 11+ years in hotel security, loss prevention, or a related public safety role.
- 2CPR and First Aid certifications preferred; willingness to obtain within 30 days.
- 3Flexible availability for overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- 4Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climbing stairs and traversing the property.
- 5Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clear incident reports.
- 6Basic computer proficiency for Microsoft Office and security management software.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; additional security training is a plus.
- 8Valid driver's license for potential off-site errands or transportation needs.
- 9Physical capability to respond quickly to emergencies, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
