Order Entry Pharmacy Technician
Overview
This role ensures accurate entry and triage of monthly medication orders for long-term care facilities. You will maintain patient profiles, process prescriptions through third-party insurance billing, and serve as the primary contact for nurses and physicians. The position operates in a closed-door pharmacy using Frameworks ECM and other pharmacy software. You will support pharmacists in delivering safe and timely medication services. This role offers a structured Monday-to-Friday schedule with predictable hours.

- 2Receive prescriptions and refill requests via fax and electronic formats, verifying completeness.
- 3Enter monthly medication orders using Frameworks ECM and related order entry systems.
- 4Process prescriptions through third-party insurance billing and resolve basic issues.
- 5Manage incoming phone calls, directing them to the appropriate department or team member.
- 6Communicate with long-term care facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians regarding orders.
- 7Triage incoming documents and electronic orders, routing them for timely processing.
- 8Use SIG codes correctly to ensure clear directions for use on prescriptions.
- 9Collaborate with team members typing and finalizing orders to ensure smooth workflow.
- 10Follow established procedures for order entry and documentation to maintain compliance.
Requirements9
- 1Registered pharmacy technician with the State of Minnesota (state registration required, national certification alone does not qualify).
- 26+ months of pharmacy experience.
- 3Working knowledge and practical use of SIG codes in prescription processing.
- 4Proficiency in data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- 5Customer service experience, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
- 6Ability to use pharmacy software systems, including Frameworks and Frameworks ECM.
- 7Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.
- 8Ability to manage multiple incoming calls, faxes, and electronic orders while maintaining accuracy.
- 9Capability to verify completeness and accuracy of prescription and refill information.
