What You'll Do9

  • 1Perform preliminary assessments of patient vision, refractive errors, and eye health, recording accurate test results in EHR systems.
  • 2Conduct specialized tests to measure myopia progression, including corneal topography and axial length measurements.
  • 3Assist in implementing myopia control treatments such as contact lenses, orthokeratology, and pharmaceutical interventions.
  • 4Provide hands-on guidance and education to patients on proper usage of treatment methods.
  • 5Monitor patient progress, schedule follow-ups, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to adjust treatment plans.
  • 6Maintain organized patient records in EHR and paper files, compiling data on treatment outcomes.
  • 7Clean and calibrate diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate results, coordinating repairs as needed.
  • 8Educate patients and families on myopia causes, treatment options, and healthy visual habits.
  • 9Support clinic operations by managing patient flow, scheduling, billing, and insurance tasks.

Requirements9

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in optometry or ophthalmology are a plus.
  • 21+ years of experience as an ophthalmic technician, optometric assistant, or related role preferred.
  • 3Strong understanding of eye anatomy, refractive errors, and common eye conditions.
  • 4Familiarity with diagnostic equipment used in ophthalmic practice, including corneal topographers and retinal cameras.
  • 5Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • 6Effective communication skills for patient education and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  • 7Empathy and patience when working with children and families.
  • 8Willingness to travel 25% between locations: Newtown Square, Horsham, and Philadelphia.
  • 9Basic computer skills for EHR and data entry.
