Overview

You will own ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic services at Texas Retina Associates' Dallas Main office, supporting physicians in a high-volume retina practice. You will perform fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, and ultrasound, ensuring precise, diagnostic-quality images. You will report to the Manager of Diagnostic Services and collaborate with a team of specialty-trained retina physicians across 15 Texas locations. This role stands out for its focus on complex retinal conditions and access to advanced imaging technology.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Build patient rapport and manage imaging workflow, from intake to archiving, for fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography.
  • 2Capture diagnostic images by positioning patients and operating fundus cameras and OCT equipment, adapting to media opacities for optimal results.
  • 3Identify retinal landmarks to verify correct field selection and image orientation for right and left eyes.
  • 4Monitor patient reactions during imaging and respond to any adverse events, escalating concerns to management.
  • 5Manage digital image databases, sorting, labeling, and archiving to ensure easy retrieval and compliance with HIPAA.
  • 6Maintain imaging equipment, including fundus cameras, OCT machines, and ultrasound systems, and keep adequate supplies of bulbs, fuses, and flash units.
  • 7Perform basic ultrasound imaging and assist with clinical research tasks as needed.
  • 8Adhere to OSHA and infectious waste procedures, maintaining a clean and sterile environment.

Requirements10

  • 12+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a medical practice.
  • 2High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3Retina practice experience preferred.
  • 4Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) preferred.
  • 5Experience with NextGen, digital imaging, and patient management systems preferred.
  • 6Proficiency with Humphrey Visual Field and Goldman Visual Field testing.
  • 7Proficiency with Stereo Fundus imaging and fundus cameras.
  • 8Proficiency with Optical Coherence Tomography and IVFA injections.
  • 9Proficiency with Ultrasound and BScan techniques.
  • 10Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and tolerate prolonged standing, walking, and bending.
