Nuclear Mechanical Systems Engineer Component Qualification
Overview
Lead mechanical design and qualification of primary pressure boundary components for nuclear units including AP1000 reactors. Own designs from concept through qualification while ensuring compliance with NRC DOE ASME codes. Steward projects across operating plants and support repair and modification activities.
What You'll Do9
- 1Own mechanical design analysis and qualification for component repairs and modifications on AP1000 reactors
- 2Employ finite element simulations Ansys closed-form calculations and Westinghouse internal codes to validate designs
- 3Drive subsystem integration with component system and manufacturing leaders while resolving emergent issues
- 4Co-develop executable schedules balancing scope risk and timelines with project managers and technical leads
- 5Surface technical risks early and chart mitigation paths leading to resolution
- 6Embed compliance with NRC DOE ASME codes in every design decision
- 7Provide technical leadership collaborating with national laboratories subcontractors suppliers fabricators and customers
- 8Support refueling outages including remote and on-site work with time-sensitive shifts
- 9Steward designs from concept through qualification supporting global operations
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanical Engineering Engineering Mechanics or Aerospace preferred
- 2At least 3 years experience in component structural analysis or thermo-hydraulics
- 3Strength in Finite Element Analysis FEA exposure to Ansys valued
- 4Professional Engineer PE License familiarity beneficial
- 5Experience with Spark Airflow and other relevant tools as demonstrated through past projects
