Quality & Test Engineer, Nuclear Manufacturing
Overview
Own quality processes for a nuclear energy startup scaling to mass production. You will run inspection plans, root cause analysis, and supplier audits for fabricated components across ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 standards. Work with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to drive process control and test execution. This role offers direct impact on a fast-growing reactor design, with no formal quality experience required if you have strong engineering fundamentals.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and work instructions for fabricated and assembled parts.
- 2Lead root cause analysis for nonconformances in receiving, fabrication, or assembly using 5-Why and fishbone methods.
- 3Partner with manufacturing and design teams on tolerance stack-up, Cpk analysis, and SPC implementation.
- 4Conduct supplier source inspections, audits, and first article reviews to ensure quality.
- 5Develop and execute test programs for components requiring functional, performance, or environmental verification.
- 6Integrate quality management system elements aligned with ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 expectations.
- 7Support design and process FMEAs with engineering counterparts.
- 8Maintain quality records, documentation control, and traceability for safety-related components.
- 9Translate quality data into actionable engineering recommendations for production teams.
Requirements6
- 12-5 years of engineering experience in design, manufacturing, test, or process engineering.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related field.
- 3Solid grounding in GD&T, basic statistics, and root cause methodologies (5-Why, fishbone).
- 4Comfort reading and marking up engineering drawings and CAD models.
- 5Strong written communication for documenting findings and driving corrective actions.
- 6Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.
