NJROTC Leadership Coordinator, Naval Science Instructor
Overview
You will instruct cadets in the NJROTC program, owning the delivery of the Navy's national curriculum and shaping their intellectual, social, and physical growth. You will coordinate co-curricular activities like drill meets, military ball, and summer camp, working alongside the Naval Science Officer to manage cadet leadership and program standards. This role stands out because you directly mentor cadets and drive their character education, preparing them for future success.
What You'll Do10
- 1Teach and assess cadet progress with formal and informal evaluations, documenting growth and adapting materials to meet individual needs.
- 2Instruct 180 hours of military-directed subjects in classroom and leadership laboratory settings, following the Navy curriculum.
- 3Advise and supervise extracurricular teams in drill, rifle, physical training, and academic challenge, ensuring they meet performance standards.
- 4Lead cadet leadership development by appointing command and staff roles, and mentoring cadets in those positions.
- 5Establish and enforce discipline and management procedures to maintain a productive learning environment.
- 6Coordinate special events like the annual military ball and drill meets, and supervise cadets at summer leadership camp.
- 7Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about cadet progress, and collaborate with school staff to boost recruitment and retention.
- 8Manage data records in the automated student database, and compile reports for the Navy and district as required.
- 9Counsel, mentor, and tutor cadets to support their academic and personal growth.
- 10Promote equal employment and non-discrimination practices, and align performance with admission and career development goals.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's Degree and retired military officer status.
- 21+ year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent.
- 3Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- 4Strong documentation and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- 5Ability to multi-task and organize records management procedures.
- 6Proficient with MSWord, Outlook, and computerized records-keeping systems.
- 7Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- 8Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift light objects, and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
