Overview

Lead a unique position supporting TCNJ CCS college students through a 4-year life planning process. The role involves designing a sequential curriculum, developing coursework, managing field experiences, and providing ongoing assessment and support. This position differs by focusing on holistic transition planning and independent living skills.

What You'll Do12

  • 1Develop Life Design and Transition curriculum through backward design with CCS Administration
  • 2Create and revise course syllabi for 4/5 courses per semester plus winter/summer terms
  • 3Implement customized employment discovery processes for partner agencies
  • 4Organize and manage on-campus field experiences with progress monitoring systems
  • 5Monitor senior internships through bi-monthly reviews with VR agency
  • 6Conduct initial and annual assessments of student development areas
  • 7Design and implement continuous progress monitoring aligned with LDT curriculum
  • 8Maintain web-based profiles and facilitate Life Design Teams for CCS students
  • 9Identify, train, and schedule mentors while assessing their effectiveness
  • 10Support employer training and recognition programs with CCS Administration and VR agencies
  • 11Prepare student records and maintain communication logs with TCNJ departments
  • 12Attend department meetings and collect accountability data monthly

Requirements11

  • 1BA/BS required with Master's preferred in Special Education or Vocational Rehabilitation
  • 2Professional certification in special education or related field
  • 33-5 years education/disability field experience with preference for post-secondary settings
  • 4Experience working with youth with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities
  • 5Demonstrated teaching skills for college-age students and curriculum development
  • 6Knowledge of federal/state disability regulations including IDEA and VR Act
  • 7Understanding of NJ state and local services for youth with ID/DD
  • 8Excellent communication and time management abilities
  • 9Valid driver's license and willingness to collaborate in shared spaces
  • 10Ability to handle reasonable accommodation requests
  • 11Background check and reference verification required
