Network Audit Technician, Data Center Testing
Overview
You will own circuit audit testing in data centers, connecting to network switches, testing fiber connections, and validating port assignments. You work with VFL and fiber cleaning tools on critical infrastructure. Part of a team that handles service tickets from Lead Techs and Supervisors. This role focuses on testing and repatching only, no cabling or termination required. You gain OSHA certification with paid training and grow in a physical security firm.
What You'll Do7
- 1Execute circuit audits on network switches, testing fiber connections and validating port assignments with VFL and fiber cleaning tools.
- 2Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues in data center environments, identifying faulty connections and repatching as needed.
- 3Identify color codes for 568A, 568B, 6 strand fiber, 12 strand fiber, 25 pair and 50 pair cables.
- 4Label and document horizontal and backbone cables, ensuring accurate records for every audit.
- 5Maintain inventory of tools, test equipment, and materials, keeping everything ready for each job.
- 6Read and acknowledge Toolbox Talks, and deliver safety information in team meetings.
- 7Work safely on ladders and lifts, following site-specific PPE and safety protocols.
Requirements7
- 11+ years in network testing or data center operations, with hands-on use of VFL and fiber testers.
- 2Ability to read 568A and 568B color codes and identify multi-strand fiber counts.
- 3Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation and discrepancy spotting.
- 4Comfortable working in high-security, mission-critical environments with strict safety rules.
- 5Pass a background check and drug screen.
- 6Provide own ASTM rated composite toe boots.
- 7Willing to work overtime, early mornings, and evenings as needed.
