NetApp Storage Administrator, ONTAP & Migration
Overview
You will lead NetApp ONTAP migration and support for a Dallas-based enterprise, managing SAN/NAS environments at scale. You will design, deploy, and maintain NetApp storage solutions including Cloud Volume ONTAP and Azure NetApp Files, owning performance and reliability. Working with a collaborative team and 6+ month contract, you will execute SnapMirror-based migrations and SVM-DR setups that keep business critical data protected. This role stands out for its focus on end-to-end migration leadership and deep ONTAP expertise.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and deploy NetApp ONTAP, Cloud Volume ONTAP, and Azure NetApp Files solutions to meet capacity and performance needs.
- 2Plan and execute data migrations using SnapMirror, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity across storage systems.
- 3Lead engineering support for SAN/NAS environments, optimizing performance and reliability across NFS, SMB/CIFS, and FC protocols.
- 4Provision storage by creating volumes, LUN mapping, and NAS shares, ensuring OS-level availability and connectivity.
- 5Configure SVM-to-SVM data protection relationships, replicating volume data, NFS exports, SMB shares, and RBAC settings.
- 6Set up secure cluster peering and SVM peering to enable cross-cluster data replication for SVM-DR environments.
- 7Execute baseline transfers and schedule incremental updates for SVM-DR, maintaining consistent replication and business continuity.
- 8Perform SVM failover and reactivation of primary systems using SnapMirror for fast, nondisruptive DR activation.
- 9Monitor SVM-DR relationships, verify snapshot retention aligns with protection policies, and validate replication health.
- 10Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, forecasting, and trending for storage infrastructure.
- 11Troubleshoot storage provisioning, replication, and performance issues using tools like Active IQ and System Manager.
Requirements11
- 110+ years of experience managing NetApp storage environments, with deep expertise in ONTAP.
- 2Hands-on migration experience using SnapMirror and other NetApp native tools for data moves.
- 3Proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain NetApp storage solutions including Cloud Volume ONTAP and Azure NetApp Files.
- 4Expertise in SAN/NAS protocols: NFS, SMB/CIFS, and FC.
- 5Demonstrated skill in configuring SVM-to-SVM data protection, including RBAC and metadata replication.
- 6Experience setting up cluster and SVM peering for cross-cluster replication and SVM-DR.
- 7Strong track record executing baseline transfers and incremental updates for disaster recovery.
- 8Proficiency in performing SVM failover and reactivation using SnapMirror.
- 9Knowledge of monitoring SVM-DR health, snapshot retention, and replication consistency.
- 10Ability to troubleshoot storage performance and provisioning issues using Active IQ and System Manager.
- 11Solid teamwork and independent work skills, with a positive attitude.
