MRI Services Assistant, Patient Scheduling & MRI Safety
Overview
You will own MRI patient scheduling and safety screening at Penn Medicine, a leading academic medical center. You will coordinate appointments, verify insurance, and register patients using Meditech and PACS. You will work with radiologists, referring physicians, and patients to ensure seamless imaging services. This role demands precision in screening for ferrous and RF-sensitive materials to protect patient safety. You will drive financial counseling and revenue capture for the department.
What You'll Do8
- 1Schedule MRI procedures in Meditech, explaining prep instructions and confirming appointments.
- 2Screen patients for ferrous and RF-sensitive materials using consistent techniques, documenting history in PACS and Meditech.
- 3Provide financial counseling, including pre-certification and benefit verification, to ensure revenue.
- 4Register MRI patients at time of service, verifying demographics and insurance data.
- 5Monitor account completeness, preparing studies for radiologist interpretation and sending reports as needed.
- 6Serve as liaison between ordering physicians and radiologists to confirm correct studies.
- 7Manage patient flow and communication, delivering excellent customer service.
- 8Track and manage supply usage to stay within department budget.
Requirements7
- 1H.S. Diploma/GED required.
- 23-5 years of patient scheduling or billing experience.
- 3Proficiency in Meditech and PACS systems.
- 4Knowledge of MRI safety protocols and ferrous material screening.
- 5Ability to handle age-specific patient needs from infant to geriatric.
- 6Strong organizational and communication skills.
- 7Experience with insurance verification and financial counseling.
