You will own decedent care and postmortem workflow coordination for a 25-capacity morgue handling ~1,450 cases annually at Brigham and Women's Hospital. You act as the primary liaison for families, funeral homes, medical examiners, and donor services, ensuring respectful handling and seamless operations. You maintain equipment, documentation, and compliance with state and federal regulations. What You'll Do7
- 1Serve as primary liaison for decedent care and postmortem workflow, triaging inquiries from families and stakeholders.
- 2Coordinate receipt and release of decedents and specimens across hospital units, contracted facilities, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
- 3Maintain proper identification and tracking of remains, including inventorying belongings and facilitating movement within morgue and autopsy spaces.
- 4Review and manage documentation for deceased individuals, ensuring accuracy and organization.
- 5Keep morgue spaces and equipment clean, disinfected, and stocked per infection control standards.
- 6Comply with hospital policies and OSHA regulations on safety and environmental affairs.
- 7Monitor and resolve discrepancies in decedent care processes, escalating when necessary.
Requirements7
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Biology or Health Sciences preferred.
- 21-2 years mortuary or decedent affairs experience preferred.
- 3Comfortable working around deceased individuals with respect and compassion.
- 4Ability to lift, pull, and push substantial weight in a temperature-controlled morgue.
- 5Strong communication and interpersonal skills for grieving families and stakeholders.
- 6Highly detail-oriented with organizational and time management skills.
