Metrology QA Technician Detroit Michigan
Overview
Own measurement processes and guarantee product quality from initial approval to final release. Lead inspections and documentation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This position differs by focusing on hands-on metrology and direct involvement in quality assurance activities.
What You'll Do11
- 1Read/interpret engineering drawings and GD&T for dimensional verification
- 2Execute first-piece in-process and final inspections documenting results
- 3Conduct floor audits ensuring adherence to control plans and work instructions
- 4Set up and operate specialized gaging and precision metrology equipment
- 5Prepare samples for lab testing and perform hardness tensile torque grain flow tests
- 6Evaluate raw materials against specifications and complete PPAP documentation
- 7Administer disposition of nonconforming material and generate Repair Shop Orders
- 8Calibrate measuring instruments according to scheduled maintenance
- 9Maintain quality documentation within ERP systems
- 10Attend quality initiative meetings and engage with customers/suppliers
- 11Follow Lean safety environmental and quality procedures
Requirements5
- 15+ years manufacturing quality inspection
- 2Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- 3Proficiency with precision instruments and special gaging
- 4Basic PPAP and statistical tool knowledge
- 5Computer-literate with ERP experience preferred
