Quality Technician, Manufacturing Inspection
Overview
Own quality inspection for transmission systems and components, performing visual and dimensional checks on incoming, in-process, and finished products. You'll use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment to verify specifications and document results. Work onsite in Novi, MI with weekly pay, supporting TS16949 and IATF 16949 standards. This role demands hands-on inspection experience, not just production exposure, giving you direct impact on product quality and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do8
- 1Perform visual and dimensional inspections on incoming, in-process, and finished products using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment.
- 2Interpret part prints, specifications, and quality standards to verify products meet customer and engineering requirements.
- 3Document inspection results and maintain quality records, ensuring traceability and compliance with TS16949 and IATF 16949.
- 4Identify and document non-conforming materials, communicating issues to production personnel for immediate correction.
- 5Approve incoming materials and finished products through visual and measurement inspections, including verifying rework.
- 6Conduct in-process audits and adjust inspection criteria as needed to maintain quality standards.
- 7Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- 8Support a safe work environment, following all company procedures and safety guidelines.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or GED required.
- 21+ years experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.
- 3Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part prints, and specifications.
- 4Proficiency with hand gauges such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- 5Experience with CMM operation and dimensional metrology is preferred.
- 6Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for data entry.
- 7Understanding of dimensional inspection and quality control processes.
- 8Strong documentation and communication skills.
- 9Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform close visual inspections with standing and bending.
