Mental Health Technician leads patient care on a per diem basis within the Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. What You'll Do11
- 1Recognize patients and families to deliver personalized care aligned with individual preferences and cultural values
- 2Communicate effectively with patients families and staff through multiple channels
- 3Apply therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to manage patient behaviors
- 4Maintain a safe clean environment and ensure patient safety through observation and rounding
- 5Lead or assist in group activities such as community meetings and recreational programs
- 6Support nursing staff with patient care tasks following established protocols
- 7Complete accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies
- 8Participate in unit meetings and orientation activities for new hires
- 9Assist with patient activities including personal care ambulation and feeding
- 10Provide direct patient observation for safety during assigned shifts
- 11Collaborate on unit documentation and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements11
- 1High School Diploma with at least one year of healthcare experience preferred for non-Philadelphia campuses
- 2Supervised mental health practicum plus twelve college credits in social sciences and two years of mental health or addiction care experience
- 3Bachelor’s Degree in humanities or social services with one year of mental health or addiction care experience
- 4Knowledge of behavioral treatment techniques and ethical standards for healthcare settings
- 5Understanding of health information documentation requirements
- 6Awareness of patient safety risks and mitigation strategies
- 7Physical ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds including patient transfers
- 8Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional strenuous activity
- 9Certification in Basic Life Support from AHA or Red Cross
- 10Experience with Jefferson Health policies and code of ethics
- 11Commitment to supporting diverse patient populations
