Overview

Medical Technologist I will own laboratory testing workflows in a pediatric hospital setting, supporting accurate patient care across walk-in draw procedures. You will work with a collaborative team, including physicians, nurses, and other lab personnel, to deliver reliable results. You will troubleshoot instruments and maintain compliance with CLIA High Complexity testing requirements. This role emphasizes hands-on testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to support patient outcomes.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and perform quantitative and qualitative tests on patient specimens and ensure accurate recording of results
  • 2Analyze test results, prepare samples for testing, and calculate findings to inform patient care
  • 3Prepare, validate, and manage reagents, media, stains, and testing materials
  • 4Process all specimen types, review results, and report findings to clinical staff
  • 5Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, perform routine maintenance, and escalate issues as needed
  • 6Serve as a resource to laboratory personnel and provide guidance to colleagues
  • 7Ensure CLIA High Complexity compliance and maintain high quality control standards
  • 8Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to support patient care
  • 9Maintain clear documentation of procedures, results, and quality indicators
  • 10Aid in onboarding and training of new staff and rotating laboratory shifts

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent
  • 2Registered or registry eligible with ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire
  • 36 months to 1 year of experience in an acute care facility as a medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist
  • 4Equivalency evaluation required for non-US trained personnel (ECE, NACES, or AICE within 30 days of hire)
  • 5State licensure as required
  • 6Strong analytical ability to interpret test results and draw conclusions
  • 7Excellent interpersonal skills to work with physicians and staff
  • 8Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate laboratory equipment
  • 9Ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instruments
