Overview
You own specimen processing, analysis, and results reporting as a licensed Medical Technologist at PathGroup in Nashville. What You'll Do9
- 1Process incoming specimens and run tests per department protocols, prioritizing urgent samples and maintaining chain of custody.
- 2Perform all duties of a Medical Technologist I, demonstrating clinical competency and accuracy in ELISA, PCR, and hematology assays.
- 3Calibrate and maintain lab instruments, including Sysmex and Beckman Coulter analyzers, and troubleshoot malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- 4Review and validate test results, flagging anomalies and repeating samples when necessary to guarantee precision.
- 5Report verified results to clinicians via LIS (e.g., Sunquest), ensuring clear documentation and compliance.
- 6Update standard operating procedures to reduce error rates in pre-analytical phases, from sample collection to storage.
- 7Support supervisors with inventory control, ordering reagents, and monitoring QA/QC logs to meet CAP and CLIA standards.
- 8Train new staff on proper lab techniques, safety protocols, and EPIC documentation practices.
- 9Engage in interdisciplinary meetings to resolve cross-functional issues and improve lab efficiency.
Requirements9
- 13+ years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or reference lab setting.
- 2Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical lab science, or Medical Technology.
- 3Current ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Technologist.
- 4Hands-on proficiency with ELISA, PCR, and blood bank procedures.
- 5Experience using LIS systems like Sunquest or Cerner for result entry and tracking.
- 6Ability to troubleshoot hematology analyzers and chemistry analyzers independently.
- 7Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and OSHA safety regulations.
- 8Strong written and verbal communication for reporting results and coordinating with care teams.
- 9Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
