Medical Scribe, Oncology/Hematology Practice
Overview
You will own the clinical documentation workflow for a busy Oncology/Hematology practice, partnering with physicians to capture every detail of patient encounters in EClinicalWorks and other EMR systems. You will work alongside a team of nurses and support staff, ensuring accuracy and speed in a 100% electronic environment. This role demands 70 WPM typing, medical terminology fluency, and a Certified Medical Scribe credential or 1+ year experience. You will directly impact patient care and billing efficiency from day one.
What You'll Do10
- 1Document patient encounters in EClinicalWorks, including vitals, history of present illness, review of systems, and medications, within the EMR as directed by provider.
- 2Obtain and verify medical records prior to visits, integrating them into the EMR and flagging discrepancies.
- 3Prepare and send prescriptions as directed by physician, ensuring accurate medication lists and allergy checks.
- 4Fax imaging and procedure orders, logging the date and location of each fax in the EMR by end of day.
- 5Inform providers when diagnostic studies are complete, attach results to charts, and document in EMR for review.
- 6Complete progress notes and billing items before the end of each shift, enabling timely claim submission.
- 7Support MIPS reporting by ensuring all documentation and billing details meet compliance standards.
- 8Process lab orders internally and externally, tracking status changes and canceling duplicate older labs in the EMR.
- 9Respond to provider requests for clarification, documenting all activities and patient-related emails within the EMR.
- 10Assist physicians during procedures as a scribe, capturing notes and orders in real time.
Requirements10
- 11+ year experience as a medical scribe or Certified Medical Scribe credential.
- 2Typing speed of 70 WPM with high accuracy rates.
- 3Working knowledge of Windows-based systems, Microsoft Office, and email platforms.
- 4Familiarity with EClinicalWorks or other EMR systems is a plus.
- 5Strong understanding of medical terminology and documentation standards.
- 6Knowledge of insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- 7Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high volume of work under tight deadlines.
- 8Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish, Russian, or Armenian is a plus.
- 9Flexibility to adjust working hours as needed to complete documentation.
- 10Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
