Medical Assistant – Waltham OBGYN
Overview
Join Mount Auburn OBGYN in Waltham as a Medical Assistant supporting patients throughout their obstetric and gynecologic care. This hands-on clinical role includes rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, administering injections as directed, assisting with procedures, managing specimens, and coordinating follow-up care. You may also provide administrative support when staffing needs require it.
What You'll Do15
- 1Welcome patients and identify their needs then prepare them for visits
- 2Review medical records and document chief complaints and vital signs
- 3Perform phlebotomy and assist with specimen collection
- 4Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider
- 5Prepare equipment and assist during clinical procedures
- 6Explain preparation instructions for tests and procedures
- 7Complete lab requisitions accurately and track outstanding results
- 8Triage patient calls and communicate messages to providers
- 9Process prescriptions and communicate test results under provider direction
- 10Schedule special procedures and coordinate referrals and pre-certifications
- 11Review cancellations and no-shows with providers and reschedule patients as clinically indicated
- 12Clean sterilize and maintain instruments and clinical equipment
- 13Restock exam rooms and maintain supply inventories
- 14Provide front-desk or secretarial support when needed
- 15Cross-train and float to other practices as required
Requirements6
- 1High School diploma or GED required
- 2Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred
- 3License Medical Assistant Certificate preferred or Registration Certified Nursing Assistant preferred or Certificate 1 EMT Basic License preferred or Certificate 2 Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
- 40-1 years related work experience required
- 5Demonstrated Medical Assistant competencies within one year of hire
- 6Basic familiarity with computers ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications
