Overview

You will own clinical and administrative patient flow at Mass Eye and Ear, a leading specialty hospital. You will take vital signs, record medical histories, and prepare exam rooms for 5+ patient encounters per hour. You will work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to ensure efficient care. You will also manage specimen collection and perform front-desk duties, all while upholding HIPAA privacy rules. This per diem role offers flexible weekday shifts in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
  • 2Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare essential equipment for healthcare providers.
  • 3Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results in EHR systems.
  • 4Perform general office duties, including answering phones and completing insurance forms.
  • 5Act as a liaison with other departments and advocate for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • 6Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.
  • 7Prepare treatment rooms, keeping them neat and stocked, and clean and sterilize instruments.
  • 8Dispose of contaminated supplies safely per OSHA guidelines.

Requirements10

  • 1High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
  • 21-2 years of direct medical assistant or medical field experience required.
  • 3BLS Certification preferred; Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) preferred.
  • 4Ability to take vital signs, manual blood pressure, and collect blood samples and other specimens.
  • 5Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
  • 6Proficiency in EHR systems and medical office software.
  • 7Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 8Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment.
  • 9Accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and specimen handling.
  • 10Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules, including HIPAA.
